Why Nutribullet Blenders Loud – Blend in Peace

Many kitchens now have Nutribullet blenders, which make it easy to make smoothies, soups, and more. One thing Nutribullet users often complain about is how loud the blenders are. The loud buzzing can be very disturbing in the early morning or late at night when you want peace and quiet.

As a Kitchen Appliances Specialist, I’ve studied the science behind Nutribullet’s noise level to understand why it’s so loud. Hi, I’m Tammy E. Edison. Today, I will talk about why Nutribullet blenders are noisy, as well as how you get rid of them and how you fix them yourself.

Initially, I will tell you “what factors are related to making the Nutribullet too loud.”

7 Reasons Your Nutribullet Blenders Are Loud

7 Reasons Your Nutribullet Blenders Loud

Below, I am sharing ten reasons that I have experimented with myself, and these reasons make loud sounds in the blender.

Blender Motors

In my experience, the Nutribullet’s noise level is closely tied to its powerful motor. I see that these Nutribullet Blenders need a lot of electricity to grind the food. The motor is strong and can blend different ingredients efficiently. This blender makes a lot of noise—about 70–75 DB when the magnetic and metal parts move. It’s really annoying to hear for humans. You will be surprised to know that Loud Nutribullet blenders can affect their lifespan, but it’s not a direct linear relationship. Also, the Nutribullet can make a lot of noise if there is an engine (motor) issue. Don’t worry; the solution is waiting for you below.

The Food You’re Blending

It’s interesting to note that the noise produced by the Nutribullet is influenced by the type of ingredients being blended. Blades make more noise when blending hard or dense ingredients, requiring extra effort. It’s a reminder that the noise isn’t solely a factor of the machine but is also influenced by the composition of the ingredients. Do you know what ingredients make noise and what you can’t? Just look below. I’m sharing a table of images.

So follow this table and less the sound of your blender. If the noise ever sharpens your Nutribullet blade, don’t worry; I have a detailed post on “ How to Sharpen Nutribullet Blades.

Note: Some blenders are equipped to handle tougher ingredients.

Broken Parts

I’ve found that if any part of the Nutribullet is broken, it can make a lot of noise. When something is wrong with the blender, like:

  • A broken seal or
  • Loose part,
  • Lids,
  • Screws, or
  • Small pieces of plastic

It can make louder noises. Regular maintenance checks are vital to ensure all components are in optimal condition.

The room you’re in is really small

I’ve noticed that the size of the room matters when it comes to the perceived noise of the Nutribullet. When you blend in a smaller space, the noise gets louder because there are fewer surfaces for the sound to spread out on. In contrast, a larger space allows the noise to spread out, making it less noticeable. Do you know what Science Says? Let’s find out!

Rotations Per Minute (RPM)

A key observation I’ve made pertains to the high Rotations Per Minute (RPM) of Nutribullet blenders. The RPM signifies how rapidly the blades spin during operation. The fast spinning is important for the desired texture but makes more noise. The blender blades rubbing against your food causes a loud vibration and noise. The correlation is clear: the quicker the rotations, the louder the blender tends to be.

In a small room, sound waves generated by the blender have fewer surfaces to interact with. When these waves hit obstacles like walls and ceilings, they bounce back and forth, creating echoes and vibrations. This phenomenon is known as acoustic resonance (Source).

Proximity to Walls

One interesting thing to notice is how the blender’s position near walls or surfaces affects it. When the blender is near a wall, the sound waves bounce off the wall’s surface and return. The reflection can make an echo, where the sound waves strengthen each other, creating a louder noise. Adjusting the placement of the blender can significantly reduce this echo effect.

Your blades are rusty

I’ve learned from my own experiences that rust on the blades can make them not rotate smoothly. Do you know why your Nutribullet rusts? Learn more from here. However, this disruption leads to vibrations and, consequently, an increase in noise. To have a quieter blending experience, it’s important to regularly check and maintain the rust-free blades.  You can clean regularly if needed. If you can’t clean the blade, know the details discussed here: “How to Clean Nutribullet Blender Blade? “

Note: Remember that rust can mix with your food, which is not good for your body. A few days ago, I read that the United States Department of Agriculture says rust is unsafe for the human body.

A few days ago, I noticed that the blender makes a noise due to insufficient water or liquid in the mixer. But in this case, you can use water or liquid according to the quantity.

Why Is It Important To Make Your Nutribullet Quieter?

Ensuring your Nutribullet operates quietly is essential for several reasons.

A quiet mixing process has a significant advantage – it causes less disturbance. But you need to choose the right blender. Do you know how to choose the right nutribullet blender? If you don’t know, I have a detailed post on “How to Choose a Nutribullet Blender.” You can get details from here.

However, you can make your favorite smoothies or recipes without creating extra noise at home. It’s crucial, especially in the early mornings or late nights when others might be sleeping. This is especially true if you live in an apartment or share walls with neighbors. Reducing blender noise makes the kitchen more pleasant and improves cooking or blending. The Nutribullet is quieter, which makes it feel more efficient, sophisticated, and easier to use.

How many decibels of sound is safe?

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services published that “In general, noise levels of 70 A-weighted dBA or lower are considered safe. Hearing loss can result from prolonged or recurrent exposure to 85 dBA or higher noise levels.”

Below are some decibel ratings for common sounds:

  • Normal conversation: 60-70 dBA
  • Lawnmowers: 80 to 100 dBA
  • Sports events: 94 to 110 dBA
  • Sirens from emergency vehicles: 110 to 129 dBA
  • Fireworks: 140 to 160 dBA

A typical conversation has a sound level of about 60 dB. We become irritated when the sound intensity rises. But the noise of a Nutribullet can be around 60 to 100 decibels. For example, if your Nutribullet gets louder, around 70–85 decibels, it might bother you or give you a headache. Actually, this sound level is often created by dishwashers, washing machines, and city traffic (inside the car). At 150 dB is enough to burst your eardrums. It is also possible to lose your hearing in 15 minutes or less when the sound intensity exceeds about 100.

Below, I’m sharing some effective processes:

Keep Nutribullet On A Flat Surface

First, you place your Nutribullet on a level surface. This is because your Nutribullet blender cannot take the correct position if it is placed on an uneven surface, resulting in noise. So keep your Nutribullet in the same place.

Don’t Overload

Never overload your Nutribullet. Because when you overload or put more than the correct amount, it puts pressure on the entire motor, and the motor makes a lot of noise.

Avoid overheating food or liquid

Do not use overheated food. Because overheated food has the potential to damage the blades inside the blender. Moreover, it tends to heat up due to prolonged use, so when you put a lot of hot food in it, it gets even hotter, which is directly on top of the motor. However, many people do not know how much hot food can be put in the blender and how much not. There is a post about this:”  Hot Liquid In The Blander.” you can find more details here.

Avoid Adding Hard Ingredients

As I said earlier about this, avoid adding hard ingredients. I have given a table above which foods I do not recommend for blenders. I’ve used the above ingredients in my blender; that’s why I’m recommending yours based on experience.

Use a silicone mat or towel underneath the NutriBullet

Always try to use a silicone mat or towel underneath when using it. Because this soft layer absorbs vibration and reduces noise from the motor and blades. Silicone stops the echo, making the mix quieter. It adds stability, preventing slips. A

Blending using a low-speed

Blending at low speed is a simple trick for reducing noise. Instead of starting at full throttle, I always choose a low-speed setting and gradually increase as needed. This soft start reduces the initial burst of noise, creating a smooth and quiet mixing process. This simple adjustment helps reduce noise and gives more precision in achieving the desired texture for my smoothies and blends. So, if you start on a low speed like me, keep your blender good.

Will A Nutribullet Replacement Blade Cool It?

Will A Nutribullet Replacement Blade Cool It

No, a NutriBullet replacement blade will not cool the motor. The motor is a separate component from the blade, and it is responsible for generating the power that spins the blade. When the motor is running, it generates heat. This heat is dissipated through the ventilation holes in the base of the blender.

Which one is Calm, Nutribullet, or Vitamix?

Nutribullet and Vitamix are both powerful blenders that are smooth. These give even results. When it comes to sound output, the Nutribullet is quieter than the Vitamix. The Nutribullet has a small motor and blades. Which spins slower than Vitamix.

Some models of NutriBullet come with sound-dampening technology. Which further reduces the noise level. Vitamix blenders must use more power to blend ingredients. Which makes Nutribullet superior to blenders. If you want a quiet blender for your kitchen, the Nutribullet is the best choice.

Conclusion

I hope, from the above discussion, you have understood why your Nutribullet blenders make noise. So always follow the above secret tips. If noise comes after that, follow the six rules of noise prevention. If you face any problems with this or have any reason for the loud noise, please let us know in the comment box.
