Why It’s Important to Clean Your Nutribullet Blade

Why It's Important to Clean Your Nutribullet Blade

Cleaning your Nutribullet blade is essential. This makes sure that your blender lasts as long as possible and works its best. It also protects your health. I’ve often noticed that built-up residue gets stuck in the crevices of the blade. It makes it difficult to remove. Because the Nutribullate Blade turns fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients into a nutritious smoothie.

Over time, residue from various food items easily accumulates on the blade. This compromises the nutritional integrity of your combinations. At a stage, your Nutribullet blender starts making noise and slowly wears out the blade. This requires regular cleaning, which I will teach you today. Regular cleaning also prevents the development of unpleasant odors and tastes inside it. This ensures this essential kitchen tool’s safety, hygiene, and optimum performance.

An incident about the constant clean and unpleasant smell came to mind. This was a few months ago. One day, my mother accidentally left the Nutribullet she used without cleaning it. The very next day, when my mother started to prepare smoothies for me in the morning, an intense smell came out, and she immediately vomited. After a few minutes, our whole room was filled with the smell. Therefore, regular cleaning is essential.

What is the best way to clean your Nutribullet blender blade?

From my long years of experience, I know 3 methods of cleaning.

  • Self-Cleaning Method – (Quick Clean)
  • Hand-Washing Method – (Standard Clean)
  • Deep Cleaning Method – (Tough Stains)

I prefer hand-cleaning and deep-cleaning methods. But when my body feels a little lazy and cold, then I use the self-cleaning method.

Even if you’re new, you may be wondering when you should use which cleaning method. For this, I have given a small table below; please note

When should you use which cleaning methods? Learn from here

Self-CleaningLight residue, soft ingredients

I hope you have found out which method will work best for you and which one to use.

So, now, let’s teach you how to clean your NutriBullet blender blades.

What supplies will you need?

  • Warm water,
  • Dish soap,
  • Abrasive sponge or
  • Scrub brush or Scrubbing pad
  • Clean cloth or paper towels

How to Self-Clean NutriBullet Blender Blades

To clean the blades on my Nutribullet blender, I follow these simple steps:

Gather the supplies

I make sure I have dish soap, hot water, vinegar, a cleaning brush, and paper towels on hand.

Disassemble the blades

First, from the blender cup, I unscrewed the blade system. Then, remove the sharp extractor blade from its holder. I’m always careful when handling the blades since they can cut me if I’m not paying attention.

Soak the blades in vinegar

I added the same amount of white vinegar and hot water in a bowl. I then soak the blades in the solution for at least 15-30 minutes. That’s because the acid in the vinegar helps loosen any gunk and stuck-on bits. If there is a lot of buildup, I may have to scrub the blades with an old toothbrush.

Scrub with dish soap

After soaking, I wash the blades with dish soap and hot water. I use the brush to scrub off debris from the blades and holder. I make a paste from baking soda and water for tough stains and scrub with the paste using the brush.

Rinse and dry

I rinse everything with water to get rid of any soap or paste that’s still on it. After that, I use paper towels or a clean cloth to pat the blades and holder dry to avoid getting water spots.

Reassemble and test

Finally, I reassemble the blade holder and blades and attach them to the blender cup. I then run the empty blender with some water on the pulse setting to ensure the blades are spinning properly before using it again.

I can keep my blender in great working condition by disassembling, cleaning, and properly reassembling the Nutribullet blades after each use. It also ensures safety each time I make a smoothie. I consistently maintain my Nutribullet. This helps me get the most out of this useful kitchen appliance.

Next, I will show you how to hand wash your Nutribullet blender blades.

How to Hand-Wash NutriBullet Blender Blades

For hand washing, follow the below points:

Soak blades in warm, soapy water or vinegar

After removing the blades from the cup, fill your sink with a few inches of warm water and add a squirt of dish soap. Or fill a bowl with hot water and add 2-3 tablespoons of white vinegar. I always add 2.5 tablespoons of vinegar and soak the blades for 15-30 minutes. It helps loosen stubborn dirt.

Scrub with bottle brush

After soaking:

  • Use a bottle brush to scrub the blades, especially in the grooves and crevices.

Note: Don’t use harsh scrubbing pads or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the blades.

  • Pay attention to any stubborn spots.
  • Mix baking soda and water to make a paste. Scrub tough spots with the bottle brush and the paste.

Rinse thoroughly

Rinse the blades with water to remove all soap and debris. Hold the blades under running water and shake vigorously. Repeat until the water runs clear.

Dry completely

It’s important to dry the blades completely to prevent water spots and ensure they are fresh for your next use. Pat the blades dry with a towel and then let air dry completely, at least overnight.

Sharpen blades (optional)

For the best blending results, you may want to sharpen your NutriBullet blades after every 5-10 washes. You can use a knife sharpener, whetstone, or have them professionally sharpened. When you clean and handle the blades, be very careful.

Following my simple hand-washing and drying steps after each use, your NutriBullet blades will stay clean, sharp, and ready to use.

After that, I will tell you how to Deep clean your Nutribullet blender blades.

How to Deep Clean NutriBullet Blender Blades

When your NutriBullet blender blade gets gunky, it’s time for a deep clean. I’ll walk you through how I thoroughly clean the NutriBullet blender blade.

Scrub with a Sponge

After soaking, scrub each blade layer with a sponge or scrub brush. Pay extra attention to any areas with built-up stains. For difficult spots, mix baking soda and water to make a paste. Scrub with a brush and the paste. Rinse all pieces with water to remove any remaining residue.

Sanitize in Boiling Water

For a sanitizing clean, bring a pot of water to a boil. Carefully add the blade pieces and let them boil for 3 minutes. Remove and let air dry completely. This step kills any bacteria and leaves your blade sparkling clean. Exercise caution, as the boiling water and blades will be extremely hot!

Reassemble and Test

Put all the blade pieces back together, including any gaskets or seals. Screw the blade assembly back onto your NutriBullet cup to ensure all parts are fitted properly before use. After putting it back together, run a test cycle with water to make sure there are no leaks.

By following these steps, your NutriBullet blade will be as clean as new.

Can I Clean NutriBullet Blades in the Dishwasher?

Can I Clean NutriBullet Blades in the Dishwasher

NutriBullet blender cups and lids are generally dishwasher-safe. But I don’t, and cleaning the blades in the dishwasher is not recommended. The blades contain intricate parts. They are subjected to high water pressure and heat in the dishwasher. This may cause damage over time. Also, the dishwasher environment might not remove all the residue from the blades. This could compromise their cleanliness. As we already said, the best way to make sure your NutriBullet blades last a long time and work at their best is to wash them by hand.

Conclusion

I hope these guidelines and tips above will help you save time and frustration. Keeping your Nutribullet compartments clean means your smoothies and juices will always be fresh. They will also be free of built-up gunk. Please comment below if you have any other questions about using or maintaining your Nutribullet. Me and my team are always here to help you.
